UPDATE - I upgraded my review from 3 to 4 stars because the restaurant promptly and properly corrected the mistake mentioned in the original review below: Good day, one and all. I'm leaving this review just after 8 am on Monday, April 13, 2026. I woke up this morning determined to treat myself to a decent breakfast. After chatting with my preferred Ai, I decided to give this IHOP at 2529 N 75th Avenue a try. THE ARRIVAL: I workout at the nearby EOS and I was on my bike. My original thought was to park the bike at the gym and walk to the restaurant. I decided, instead, to go straight to the restaurant. I was happy to find that they had a bike rack. Yay! That was nice. So, I lock up the bike and go in. THE ENTRY: The front station was unattended. No worries. The host caught my eye and came right away. He was a nice guy. I ordered OJ, bottomless coffee, 2 pancakes, 2 scrambled eggs, and shrimp. The restaurant had a decent atmosphere. It was about 630am. The coffee came in a cup that was smaller than normal. That was good for me because I like to add sugar and the smaller cup allows me to taste the sweetness. The eggs were average; the pancakes were nice, fluffy, and buttery; the coffee was ok; the shrimp was delicious. The server checked on me at least once or twice, which is average service for most but above average service for me because I'm black. THE ERROR: Anyway, I was almost ready to give a five star review but the following occured: The server brought the check and the original amount was 32.34 without the tip. (Please follow me with the mathematics.) The reciept had tip suggestions, with the highest tip suggestion at 22.00% for 6.52. That would bring my total to 38.86 I sent the receipt back with the card. When it came back for a signature it showed 58.96. That means that due to a so-called "error" the server would have given himself a tip for 26.62. Are you kidding? I called it to his attention and I showed him where the 58.96 had already been taken from my bank account. To his credit, the server took care of the problem immediately and the charge came off of my card. Still, three "mistakes" were made: The first mistake was to add a gratuity without the customer's consent. This is usually due to the assumption that the customer won't tip, especially if the customer is black. The second mistake was to assume that the service was deserving the maximum tip suggestion. In this case, the service was excellent and it did deserve the maximum tip suggestion, but the server should not just assume that. The third mistake was to add an extra 20.10 to the maximum tip suggestion. That's egregious! Anyway, that's my review of the IHOP on 75th. If you're in the area, go for it, but be vigilant about double checking your ticket because you might get took for a few chips. UPDATE: I just checked my bank account and the cost of my meal was recredited to my account. I plan to give it a few days. If the credit remains, I will upgrade the review to 4 or 5 stars because comping the meal is a very good way to repair today's mistake. Insha Allah, we'll see. Thanks. 2nd UPDATE - I upgraded the review to four stars because they comped me for the meal. Good job IHOP!
